Maybe it's best not to poke the bear. TTR made changes that would raise the least eyebrows. That's why they removed the mascots walking around the Playgrounds, but kept Minnie in Match Minnie. Disney characters can also be seen on street signs and water fountains still. (I don't have a link, but I think Joey was talking about that on Reddit a long time ago.)

It'd be cool to have them walk around in the Playground again, but I don't really mind them being absent.
