Testing keys

From Toontown Rewritten Wiki

Testing keys, otherwise known as registration keys, are codes that were required to participate in the Alpha and Beta stages of Toontown Rewritten. They were presumably used due to limited server capacity but were ultimately discontinued when the game entered Open Beta on September 19, 2014. Majority of keys were awarded to players via official and community giveaways varying from drawing, writing, or luck-based lottery raffles.

Alpha keys

Alpha keys were testing keys that players needed to redeem in order to play the Alpha stage of Toontown Rewritten. A contest was held before Alpha began, where players could submit knock-knock jokes to earn Alpha keys.[1] Starting December 4, 2013[2], there were several Alpha key giveaways that ran every day for 10 days. The giveaways allowed approximately 200 new players to play the game, and concluded on December 14, 2013. The total number of Alpha testers reached 320 after the final giveaway.

Beta keys

Beta keys were testing keys that players needed to redeem in order to play the Beta stage of Toontown Rewritten. As confirmed by Sam, Alpha testers were granted automatic access to Beta. Starting May 18, 2014[3], there were several Beta key giveaways that lasted seven days, which allowed approximately 700-1,000 new players to play the game, and concluded on May 24, 2014. Beta key ToonTasks soon became available for testers to complete and earn additional keys to give to their friends or host giveaways.

Trivia
