She is named after Sam Spade, the protagonist of the classic detective novel The Maltese Falcon.
As of the 2.1.5 update that was released on March 29, 2018, Samantha Spade was given her own detective outfit and was changed to be skinny after previously being chubby in order to reflect her appearance that is depicted in a Toontown Online trading card.^[1]
