Easter egg
Easter eggs are hidden features around Toontown.
General Easter eggs
Friend requests
When Toons send a friend request to Cogs and doodles, they receive statements. For Cogs, the statement could imply a Cog's reason for their disapproval of friendship with Toons. For doodles, the statement may say that a doodle is already a Toon's best friend or say that a doodle jumps around, runs in circles, and licks a Toon's face.
Giant daisy
In Daisy Gardens, there is a giant daisy located at the center of the maze. If one Toon were to approach it, it would rise up slightly. The daisy would continue to rise up as more Toons approach it.
Upside-down moon
In the Grey, an upside-down moon was hidden beneath Toons' estates, which was a remnant of Toontown Online's unused daytime cycle. However, skies can be purchased from Clarabelle's Cattlelog.
Molder
Underneath the central oil fountain in Bossbot Headquarters is a hidden molder in the Grey. The hidden molder resembles the red moles from the mole stomp obstacle in the Bossbot Golf Courses.
Konami Code
While inside their estate's houses, Toons can teleport directly into the Grey by sequentially pressing up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right. The sequence of directional arrow keys is known as the "Konami Code": a cheat code originally featured in Konami-developed video games that would typically award a player a bonus, such as 30 extra lives.
Street props
When fire hydrants, mailboxes, and trashcans are animated due to the Silly Meter, a Toon performing the Dance animation while standing next to any street prop that is not in mid-animation causes them to perform a similar Dance animation alongside the Toon.
Cozy Cabin chimney
Should Toons have Cozy Cabin as their house exterior, they can enter inside by jumping into the chimney.
Dancing radios
When Toons have the 48 Hours of Tunes rental item at their estate, any house containing a radio continues to play music inside (but houses without a radio remain silent). The radios also dance similarly to the jukebox.
Blue clouds
When Toons have the 48 Hours of Cannons rental item at their estate, pressing the "Delete" key while in the air after firing will move the blue cloud associated with that cannon to a Toon's current position. This does not work before firing or after landing.
Film noir
Trellis the Truth! Private Investigators has a unique black and white filter, serving as a reference to film noir and Samantha Spade's appearances on Toontown Rewritten's website.
Backwards long jump
Toons can "backwards long jump" up the Sellbot Factory's Warehouse Lookout stairs by facing backwards and jumping on them, which pays homage to the same technique speedrunners use in Super Mario 64 to bypass certain areas and complete the game faster. The Toontown Rewritten Team hinted at releasing the Easter egg by reacting to a community member's YouTube video titled "Toontown Factory Speedrun World Record".[1] The sound effects of the backwards long jump sequence are also referencing the YouTube video.
Fire Burning
Cogs controlled by damage remotes can tell a joke that references the song "Fire Burning" by Sean Kingston, which also happens to be the basis for Joey's widely known Toontown music video.[2] The joke that controlled Cogs tell is:
- "What Cog has the best moves on the dance floor? The Boiler is fire burning!"
Hard Hat
When battling The Factory Foreman, a status effect called "Hard Hat" appears for Toons who wear the Headlighted Hardhat.
Easter eggs during events
Operation: Crash Cashbot Headquarters
Traffic lights
During Operation: Crash Cashbot Headquarters, traffic lights on either side of the train tracks were seen blinking. In actuality, the lights were displaying secret messages in Morse code. The exchanged conversation between the green light and the red light seemed to imply that Toons were taking down the wrong "C.F.O. Project".
- "Look what fun they're having."
"Too bad they have the wrong C.F.O.."
"You should go green."
"I can only stop red."
"Don't be so negative."
"Stop mocking me."
"Go trains, go trains! Woo!"
"There are no trains."
"Wanna play a game?"
"Don't say red light, green light."
"Hi over there!"
"My existence is meaningless." - ―Green light and red light
April Toons Week
Fluffy's ToonTasks
April Toons Week is when Fluffy offers ToonTasks that award the Emergency Cream Pack, the Cog Buster Outfit, and 401 jellybeans. There is a 1% chance Fluffy may teleport out of the ToonTask scroll.
Fishing docks
April Toons Week is when fishing docks can be seen flying in the sky at Toons' estates. It is a joke referencing a previously longstanding bug where fishing docks would appear randomly across Toontown due to the former "Decreased Fish Rarity" Silly Team.
Dancing Toon statues
During April Toons Week, the Toon Wave Statue, Toon Victory Statue, Toon Authority Statue, and Toon Embrace Statue perform the Dance animation at Toons' estates.
Easter eggs on textures
Cold Caller Cubicles book prop
The texture for a Cold Caller Cubicles book prop in Sellbot Field Offices contains the number "1911011801132518" that can be decrypted as Skalamyr, an artist on the Toontown Rewritten Team. It can be easily viewable in the phase files.
Litter-less Lid
The texture for the Litter-less Lid shows the names of Toontown Rewritten Team members in the Art department listed. It can be easily viewable in the phase files.
Foreman's identification card
The texture for the identification card shown on The Factory Foreman's suit and the Foreman Hat contains text that says "You can't read this but that's ok. This project was called OilSpill.", which refers to the internal name of the Under New Management update. Ironically, despite the text being difficult to read from the texture, the brand art image shows the text to be more readable.
Scrapped trading card
The textures for the Slick Slacks and Slick Skirt show a scrapped trading card alongside the finalized trading card of The Club President in the back pocket.
