Skill points
Skill points, otherwise known as experience points or simply XP, are skill points for gags that are earned by defeating Cogs. Depending on the level of the gag and the gag itself, required skill points vary. Once the requirement is met, a Toon receives the next gag in that specific track.
Each gag has its own skill point requirement. Gags are separated by seven individual tracks: Toon-Up, Trap, Lure, Sound, Throw, Squirt, and Drop. Skill points for each track are acquired by defeating Cogs with that specific gag. For example, if a Toon uses any Throw gag and successfully defeat a Cog, they receive skill points towards their Throw track. The same is true with any other gag; after a Cog is successfully defeated, the Toon earns skill points for any gag they used during battle.
A gag track is fully maxed after a Toon receives 10,000 skill points. Once achieved, the skill bar converts to "500 to Go!" and the Toon is given access to another of the same level 7 gag upon reaching 500 skill points. However, if the Toon is already in possession of a level 7 gag, they would have to use the gag in battle before they may receive another one. Until the gag is used, the bar remains at "0 to Go!". If a level 7 gag is used before the meter reaches 0, the Toon would then have to wait until the bar reaches 0. Once they receive the gag, the bar becomes "500 to Go!" and the gag is granted.
By typical circumstances, Toons can earn up to 500 skill points per track at a time. Once the limit is reached, the whole track regardless of level becomes dull and further skill points can no longer be earned for that track.
Earning skill points
Each gag has a different skill point requirement. Some are harder to "train" due to higher skill points required or due to low accuracy. As skill point requirements increase, so do the skill points given per gag. Starting out at a low one skill point per use, gags can be tricky to level up. However, as each gag is unlocked, the skill points continue to increase, all the way to seven for a level 7 gag. In typical circumstances, skill points are equivalent to the level of gags. Therefore, a level 3 gag gives three skill points, a level 4 gag gives four skill points, a level 5 gag gives five skill points, and so on.
In many cases, it would take a lot of time to reach 10,000 skill points by typical circumstances, which is where Cog Invasions, Cog Buildings, and Cog facilities would come in handy. When battling Cogs during Cog Invasions, and in Cog Buildings and Cog facilities, the skill points earned are multiplied, depending on other factors.
It should also be noted that using a gag stronger than the Cog does not earn any skill points. For example, using a level 6 gag, such as Birthday Cake, that yields six skill points on a Cog that is level 5 or below would not yield any skill points.
Multipliers
Cog Buildings
In Cog Buildings, a gag's skill points multiply depending on the floor that a Toon is on. However, during a Cog Invasion, multipliers are doubled. Note that a multiplier is only true when a Toon is on the floor itself, meaning the Toon must be on the fifth floor of a Cog Building to get the x3 multiplier and the x6 multiplier. Multipliers for previous floors stay true.
Floor | Without Cog Invasion | With Cog Invasion |
---|---|---|
1 | x1 | x2 |
2 | x1.5 | x3 |
3 | x2 | x4 |
4 | x2.5 | x5 |
5 | x3 | x6 |
Below is another table showing the number of skill points that is yielded for each gag level while in Cog Buildings.
Status | Floor | Gag level | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | ||
Without Cog Invasion | 1 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
2 | 1.5 | 3 | 4.5 | 6 | 7.5 | 9 | 10.5 | |
3 | 2 | 4 | 6 | 8 | 10 | 12 | 14 | |
4 | 2.5 | 5 | 7.5 | 10 | 12.5 | 15 | 17.5 | |
5 | 3 | 6 | 9 | 12 | 15 | 18 | 21 | |
With Cog Invasion | 1 | 2 | 4 | 6 | 8 | 10 | 12 | 14 |
2 | 3 | 6 | 9 | 12 | 15 | 18 | 21 | |
3 | 4 | 8 | 12 | 16 | 20 | 24 | 28 | |
4 | 5 | 10 | 15 | 20 | 25 | 30 | 35 | |
5 | 6 | 12 | 18 | 24 | 30 | 36 | 42 |
For example, using a level 6 gag like Grand Piano that yields six skill points while on the fifth floor of a Cog Building would yield 18 skill points, or 36 during a Cog Invasion.
Cog facilities
Defeating Cogs in easy-mode Cog facilities such as the Scrap Factory, Coin Mint, Junior Wing, and First Fairway gives a x3 multiplier. Defeating Cogs in hard-mode Cog facilities such as the Steel Factory, Bullion Mint, Senior Wing, and Final Fringe gives a x4 multiplier.
Sellbot Field Offices
Defeating Cogs in all tiers of Sellbot Field Offices gives a x4 multiplier.
Boss battles
When battling the Boss Cogs, the first Cog battle gives a 2x multiplier. If there is a second Cog battle, a x3 multiplier is given.
