The Chief Justice, commonly known as the C.J., is the Boss Cog of the Lawbots. He resides within the Lawbot Courthouse in Lawbot Headquarters.
Battle
To battle the Chief Justice, Toons must earn parts for their Lawbot Cog Disguise by completing Professor Flake's ToonTasks (which can be done after completing ToonTasks in Donald's Dreamland) and obtain Jury Notices.
The boss battle begins as the Chief Justice exits his chambers and comes forward to greet the "defenders" from the elevator while discussing the trial of Bumpy Bumblebehr who then tells the Chief Justice that he is looking the wrong way. Toons are removed from their Lawbot Cog Disguises and the Chief Justice initiates the first Cog battle round shortly afterward.
Cog battle
Toons enter a battle with 40-45 Cogs that range from level 8 to level 13. When Toons defeat the Cogs, the Chief Justice says to them that they passed the bar exam.
Jury selection
The jury selection has a time limit of 70 seconds. Toons have to get in cannons and are faced with a jury box of 12 seats. Each Toon has 70 seconds to try and fill up seats with several shopkeepers by firing them into the seats. There needs to be a total of 8 shopkeepers to have a balanced jury; the more shopkeepers placed on the jury, the more weight the Toons' evidence can have. The common strategy may be to wait until the timer hits 20 seconds before firing to minimize how many seconds Cogs have to take over the seats. If Toons fire when the timer hits 19 seconds or less, the Cogs have far less time to take over the seats.
Final battle
Toons must obtain evidence from Bumpy Bumblebehr's bench and throw it into their pan to outweigh the Cogs' pan, while the Cogs are also throwing evidence into theirs. Toons can easily outweigh the Cogs by stunning them and throwing evidence into their pan consistently. If all Cogs are stunned at once, Toons are healed 10 laff and their evidence gains extra weight for the next 20 seconds. The Chief Justice may randomly sound an alarm, yell "You're all in contempt of court!", and perform a Jump attack. Toons should also be wary of their surroundings to avoid large gavels and evidence thrown at them by the Cogs. Once the Toons' pan hits the bottom, the Chief Justice states that he wishes to declare a mistrial and retreats to his chambers. Toons then perform a victory dance as they receive skill points for gags and credit for ToonTasks (if any), earn a promotion for their Lawbot Cog Disguise, and are awarded a specific Cog Summons by Bumpy Bumblebehr.
Attacks
- Bump: Toons are deducted 1 laff when bumping into the Chief Justice's undercarriage.
- Swipe: The Chief Justice swipes at the Toon who bumps into him if they are near him, deducting 5 laff. Other Toons nearby can be affected by this attack as well.
- Jump: The Chief Justice jumps up and slams back down to the ground, deducting 10 laff from any Toon who remains on the ground. This is a powerful attack that can be avoided by pressing the Jump key (Control by default).

Trivia
- Differing from the other Boss Cogs, the Chief Justice is the only one whose name is not a reference to a corporate or business-style title. While many Lawbots whose names are references to lawyers, the Chief Justice's name comes from the judicial side of the legal system.
- The Chief Justice has a variety of differences compared to the other Boss Cogs such as:
- The only Boss Cog to sit atop a wooden podium instead of a gear.
- The only Boss Cog to spread taunts towards Toons.
- The only Boss Cog to never have Skelecogs present during a Cog battle.
- The Chief Justice wears a blindfold that alludes to the expression "Justice is blind".
- During the opening cutscene, the Chief Justice says, "The prosecution's case is strong...", which implies that Bumpy Bumbebehr's case is criminal. When Toons lose, the Chief Justice contradicts his original statement by implying that the case is civil when he says, "I find in favor of the plaintiff."
- Toons would previously go sad without losing their gags if they lost against the Chief Justice. As of the 2.7.0 update that was released on December 15, 2020, Toons now lose their gags.
